The sci-fi movie The Creator, has a very unique concept of how AI (artificial intelligence) plays a valuable role in human lives in the year set in 2070. The “Creator” of AI is being hunted down by special forces, but one person from the special forces doesn’t know he is married to the “Creator”. The reason why the special forces got involved is because supposedly robots caused a nuclear explosion in Los Angeles in the year of 2055, but that wasn’t the case, we find out later on in the film that humans made a coding error and that is what caused the nuclear explosion! As the soldier, named Joshua, was undercover, not knowing that the person he’s married to is the “Creator”, named Maya, has a baby on its way. He’s obviously dumbfounded when he finds out later that his wife was the “Creator”. Joshua then goes on a long journey to find Maya since the ship in space sent a nuke where Joshua reveals he’s been undercover. On a mission, the objective is to kill the weapon, but we find out that the ‘weapon’ is a robot child! Joshua then becomes rouge and leaves behind his platoon to die as the government has a mothership with advanced technology that sends missiles to the area they target.
The ‘weapon’ we find out towards the end of the film is Joshua’s expected baby girl and Maya copied the daughter’s face onto a robot body where the design of the child was so far advanced that Alphie had the power to control any type of technology through her mind! Alphie helps her father, Joshua, get to Maya but the hideout of where Maya is is destroyed because the special forces caught up to them. When they see Maya, she is in a bed with technology that’s keeping her alive. Joshua makes the unfortunate decision to pull the plug and decides to scan her brain which is then transformed into a USB. As the special forces begin to slowly die from AI and humans on the island, the number one priority now to Joshua and Alphie is to destroy that mothership that’s been obliterating innocent humans and robots. To make a long story short, through special forces getting in the way, they finally make it to the mothership and Alphie destroys it little by little! As Alphie returns to her father they start making their way to an escape pod, but the problem is that Joshua can’t enter the escape pod because of a malfunction and Alphie is left in there all alone, yelling for her father and cries as she’s sent off back to earth.
Before this happened, Alphie, as she was finding her way back to her father, found a room filled with experimented robots and behold, she found her mother. Maya’s face was copied onto a robot and Alphie decides to insert the USB into the robot but the robot never turns on. She unfortunately leaves her mother behind because the ship is exploding in different sectors. While Alphie is landing back to earth, Joshua decides to walk around the ship before the ship completely explodes. In the distance, he sees a figure, and it’s Maya, and her consciousness was fully transferred into the robot! They run towards each other and hug and kiss before the camera zooms out and we see the whole ship explode. Finally, the scene switches to Alphie landing on earth and parts of the mothership landing on earth too. Everyone, including AI, were cheering and overjoyed that the war is finally over. The camera switches to Alphie crying but then smiles as she knows that she saved AI and humans!
In all, my overall impression of this movie was absolutely phenomenal! I loved the concept of the movie and all the special effects and CGI that was applied in this film to look so realistic. This movie makes you think about how the future may look. I absolutely loved the plot twists and contradicting emotions towards the ending of the movie. This film is highly recommended for people who love scientific fiction and anything about AI! This movie also makes you become aware of how AI is a scary technology since they, in time, devople human emotions and how humans will become dependent on AI as displayed in this movie! Solid 9/10.
