Golf is back and right where they left off

The 2021 Golf season is somewhat back to normal after a shortened 2020 covid season. The rules and regulations have been set back to what they were two years ago and it looks like the state series will be played this year.

The Evergreen Park Golf team looks back on track too as they have just lost 1 match, against a tough Lemont team, the entire season and brought home a conference championship.

During the conference match, EP had five of six team members, Leo Cassidy, Jake Dwyer, Colin Kelly, Frank Ostry, and Luke Russo, place in the top 10 (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 7th, and 8th). Following the conference meet, the team moved on to the regional tournament where they placed 5th as a team, and the same five golfers advanced to the sectional tournament.

At the sectional tournament, the 2021 season came to a conclusion, as they failed to advance to the state finals while playing their hearts out. There was a very bright spot at the sectional tournament where Charley Burns became the 2nd ever girl’s state qualifier for EPCHS. Even though it had a disappointing team ending, it was another very enjoyable and successful season.
