Opening your mind to a new world can be an enjoyable adventure. So, let’s talk about an interesting topic that can help students, and teachers, show what their unique minds are made of. As I was talking to Mr. Novak, he thought of the amazing idea to add Dungeons & Dragons as a new addition to the extracurricular activities. Mr. Novak shared with me that he has been playing this amazing role-playing table-top game since he was 16 years old and is open to sharing this game to others unaware of D&D. I have been playing this game since I was 11 years old but sadly was brought to a halt for 3 years due to my group losing interest and commitment. I would love to come back and play D&D again with new players and make new friends! I’ve had a phenomenal experience playing this game with my friends and I can’t describe the amount of laughter and tears I’ve shed. Being exposed again can help bring back these wonderful memories and create new ones.
The core of D&D is about storytelling and combining stories from the characters that you create. We, the players, perform an adventuring party where we embark on epic quests, exploring fantasy worlds, creatures, and much more! Players would have a DM (known as a Dungeon Master) who is the referee, boss, and storyteller. No rules are required, except if the DM chooses to have some. All of these key aspects help level-up our characters so we could unlock more features and abilities depending on your character. In simpler terms, my original DM, Maximillian Castillo, provided some insight by explaining that “DnD is an integrative storytelling experience, and a chance to see a new side of your peers. Easy to learn and fun to play, DnD is a fantastic opportunity to give your creativity a chance to blossom”.
This fantasy game gives you the opportunities to express yourself, your imagination, and your overall personality to others. Being with a great group of people can make your gaming experience greater and help you be more expressive so others can learn about you. No matter what grade or age you are, it’s never too late to try out new things and get yourself out of your comfort zone before it’s too late.
Let’s embark on this wonderful adventure together that can be remembered by many and write new ones along the way!
