Mustangs advance to 3-0

Last Friday the Mustangs took on their rival, the Oak Lawn Spartans, in a grinder of a game. Both teams hit each other hard, and they both played till the very end. Leading the way was RB Antonio Clay-Jones, with 170 rushing yards along with 3 touchdowns. He came in to replace starter Jedidiah Adjayi, who was out with an injured knuckle. Although he was a backup, he proved that he was that guy, and led the offense along with QB Deijon Feliciano, and other RB Frankie Plunkett, who had a touchdown of his own.

The defense played a big role as well, forcing two fumbles and putting a stop to the onslaught of dives that Oak Lawn relied on. Eduardo Antunez had quite the game as well, playing both ways at offensive tackle and defensive end. I was able to interview him before the game and he talked about the strength of the team, the offensive and defensive line. “I feel confident we can beat them, I feel confident that our line could evenly match theirs or possibly do better. Watching their defensive end on film, I feel confident that I can hold him and stop him.” He spoke highly of his counterpart, Isaiah Mosley, also an offensive tackle and D-end. They both had great games, dominating the edge and stuffing the runs back inside.

This Friday, the Mustangs face the Richards Bulldogs. It is going to be a grind fest, so make sure you come out in proper theme attire, strictly business, and support your Stangs to a 4-0 record!
